Arctic Lighting
Product description
A lighting collection cut from solid cast Dalle de verre. the same dense, heavy glass used in monumental stained glass for over a century. Each piece is hand-cut at the Gustav van Treeck workshops in Munich, leaving raw, irregular edges and broken planes that give the material a living quality. Light pools and scatters rather than radiates. Arctic functions as much as a sculptural object as a light source. Available as a floor lamp and wall light. No two pieces are the same.
Project description
Developed as part of Bodo Sperlein's first comprehensive collaboration with Gustav van Treeck, founded 1887. One of the most important mosaic and glass studios in Europe. Debuted at MENU, Milan Design Week 2026.
My involvement
Led the design process across the full Arctic collection. Floor lamp and wall light from concept through to production. Responsible for form development, glass artwork, and technical drawings for the Van Treeck workshops, resolving the production requirements of cast Dalle de verre across both typologies.
